Each year there are a competition in disaster medicine, or acute medicine, here in Poland where ambulance personnel from all over the country meets up. And this year the third year students from the Medical University of Bialystok, through their disaster medicine course, had the chance to play victims in this competition! The scenario was that a mini buss and a tank-car. Everybody got a roll to play, which could be that they had a broken arm or foot, have bleedings, be drunk and stuff like that! Inn between the rescue “segments” we sat around a camp fire, had some beers and hot dogs! It was a good night! The competition was from 10 pm to about 3 am, and we got home little over 4:30. It was really cool to see how different the different rescue teams worked! You can see pictures form the competition here!

Anja played a pregnant woman!

The location of the geographical centre of Europe depends on the definition of the borders of Europe, mainly whether remote islands are included to define the extreme points of Europe, and on the method of calculating the final result. Thus, several places claim to host this hypothetical centre. Here in Poland there are two points that claim to be the center. Suchowola, north of Białystok, in north-eastern Poland, and Toruń in the northern part of central Poland. Based on distance calculations to the extreme points of Europe (Franz Josef Land in the Northeast, the border between the Russian Federation and the states of Georgia and Azerbaijan at the Caspian Sea in the Southeast, Crete in the South and the Azores in the Southwest) the centre of Europe will surprisingly be found in Southern Norway near the Telemark region (60°00′N, 07°30′E).
